November war Thanksgiving. F\u00fcr alle, die nicht wissen, was Thanksgiving denn eigentlich ist: Thanksgiving hei\u00dft \u00fcbersetzt so viel wie &#8220;Danke f\u00fcrs&#8217; Geben&#8221; und ist eine Art Erntedankfest. Allerdings wird es ganz anders zelebriert als unser traditionelles Erntedankfest.<\/p>\n<p>Schon am Wochenende vor Thanksgiving reiste Ashley, meine Gastschwester, mit ihrem Ehemann und ihren beiden Kindern Eden (6 oder 7) und Benjamin (4) an.<\/p>\n<p>Sie sind extra von New Orleans (Louisiana) angereist, damit die Familie gemeinsam Thanksgiving verbringen kann. Paar Tage sp\u00e4ter ist auch die andere Tochter, Courtney mit ihrem 1-J\u00e4hrigem Sohn Tanner angereist. An Thanksgiving selbst gab es typisch amerikanisch Turkey mit s\u00fc\u00dfen Kartoffeln, Kartoffelp\u00fcree, So\u00dfe, Mais, Br\u00f6tchen und als Nachspeise noch viele verschiedene Pies (Kuchen) zur Auswahl. Darunter Pumpkin (K\u00fcrbis) Pie, Pistazien Pie und Schokopudding Pie. Danach haben wir noch ein paar Spiele gespielt und uns so einfach etwas unterhalten und den Tag ruhig ausklingen lassen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-2 \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/dt><\/dl><br style=\"clear: both\" \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Der Tag nach Thanksgiving hei\u00dft Black Friday und ist f\u00fcr seine superg\u00fcnstigen Angebote bekannt. Lange Warteschlangen geh\u00f6ren hier allerdings auch dazu. Besonders Elektronik ist an diesem Tag besonders beliebt und man kann schon mal Stundenlang an der Kasse anstehen. Auch ich wollte mir den weltber\u00fchmten Black Friday nicht entgehen lassen und bin mit Ashley, Courtney und Michelle (noch eine Freundin der Familie) in einen Bookstore gefahren und sp\u00e4ter noch mit Courtney in die Mall. Ich selbst habe mir allerdings nicht gekauft und war auch nicht wirklich scharf darauf, zwischen den Menschenmassen nach etwas passendem f\u00fcr mich zu suchen, um anschlie\u00dfend Ewigkeiten an der Umkleide anzustehen und dann nochmal an der Kasse.<\/p>\n<p>Am Wochenende fuhren Ashley und Courtney mit Familie dann auch schon wieder nach Hause. Der Montag nach Thanksgiving ist allerdings auch nochmal f\u00fcr seine tollen online Angebote bekannt. Ich habe allerdings fast den gesamten Montag damit verbracht, meiner ehrenamtlichen Arbeit in der Kidzone des YMCAs nachzugehen. In dieser Woche hatte ich dann schlie\u00dflich auch meine 40 Stunden ehrenamtliche Arbeit im YMCA erreicht. Im gesamten Jahr werde ich allerdings versuchen, 100 Stunden zu erreichen, da ich zus\u00e4tzlich auch noch Deutsch Nachhilfe gebe und auch hier schon etwa 25 Stunden erreicht habe. Im n\u00e4chsten Jahr kann ich zwar nur noch an Wochenenden oder Abenden Nachhilfe geben, aber ich bin mir sicher, dass ich das auch noch hinbekommen werde.<\/p>\n<p>Letztes Wochenende fuhren meine Gastschwester Courtney und ich nach Oklahoma City f\u00fcr ein Justin Timberlake Konzert. Wir waren beide so aufgeregt ihn live zu sehen und hatten die Karten schon Anfang September besorgt. Das Konzert war wirklich Klasse und jeden Cent wert.<\/p>\n<p>Die Woche von 8.-12. Dezember finden die Final Exams im College statt und ich muss auch noch einige Pr\u00e4sentationen halten. Am Mittwoch, den 10. Dezember kommt mich mein Freund aus Deutschland besuchen und wird gemeinsam mit mir und meiner Gastfamilie auch Weihnachten in New Orleans (bei Ashley) verbringen, worauf ich mich schon SOOOOOOOOOO RIESIG freue!! \u00a0Und am 15. Dezember habe ich einen Termin beim Congressman f\u00fcr Wichita bekommen.
